We Passed the Wage Theft Bill!

Brothers and Sisters,

WE WON! Governor Kathy Hochul put the pen to paper and officially signed the Wage Theft Bill (S2766) into law! Along with Senator Jessica Ramos and Assemblywoman Latoya Joyner, the NYC Carpenters Union played a critical role in making this law a reality.

Through our Carpenters RISE campaign, our members were vocal and insistent. We called on electeds to sign on to the bill. We held rallies and marched down the streets. We sent letters and we made our voices heard across social media. Because of all of your efforts, vulnerable and exploited workers who have been ripped off by greedy contractors with nowhere to turn now have protections, and unscrupulous contractors will be held accountable!

This is a tremendous win for the Carpenters Union, for construction workers, and for hardworking men and women across the state. When we come together for a common goal, Carpenters RISE! Thank you!

In Solidarity,
Joseph Geiger
