New York State Legislature 2022 Elections Candidate Endorsement Questionnaire Candidate Name:* First Last Committee Name:* Committee Address:* District:* Candidate Email:* Candidate Cell:*Campaign Contact:* Campaign Contact Email:* Campaign Cell:*Facebook Page: Twitter Handle: Instagram: 1. Briefly, please tell us why you would like to receive an endorsement from the New York City District Council of Carpenters.* 2. The 421A program, which is set to expire in 2022, has provided little to no work for union Carpenters. Do you support requiring the payment of prevailing wages for construction workers on projects that receive the 421a tax abatement?*3. The NYCHA RAD program has pushed public housing towards privatization. While this has reduced working hours for highly-trained union carpenters, it has more worryingly led to sharp rises in workplace safety violations, shoddy construction and even corruption within NYCHA. What is your stance on the continuation of NYCHA’s use of private/public partnerships for redevelopment projects?*4. One proposed plan is the NYCHA Trust. Would you support the NYCHA Trust plan, and if so, what additional regulations would you include to ensure the creation of union jobs?*5. The NYCDCC wants to be a leader in the fight to ensure a just transition to zero-emissions within New York state. To do that, it is critical that we pass legislation that creates prevailing-wage jobs, combats climate changes, and does not hamper efforts to create a more resilient and cleaner energy grid. S5939A/A6761A prohibits the development of new power plants, which would eliminate jobs for 5,000 millwrights, and also force New York to rely instead on old, dangerously polluting Peaker Plants resulting in more blackouts, C02 emissions, and higher energy prices. In office, would you work with the Carpenters to ensure that we boldly rise to the challenge of climate change by embracing an energy strategy that reduces overall emissions without overloading the power grid? Would you commit to voting against this bill as it is currently written?*6. Construction of charter schools is not regulated under the same rules that apply to public school construction, and therefore provides no guarantees for union labor on these projects, despite the use of taxpayer dollars. Would you support legislation defining charter school construction as public work, which would make prevailing wages compulsory?*7. Do you belong to a union?* Yes No 8. Do you have other significant endorsements?* Yes No 9a. How much cash does your campaign have on hand?* 9b. What are your fundraising goals?* 10. Please list your campaign consultants.*
