Job Description
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and storm water, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal water and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP’s water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system’s 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of the City.
Under minimal supervision, this candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to installation and repair work involving rough, finish and general carpentry, flooring, partitions, window frames and sashes, door frames and doors, fences and screens and other related components of building and structures. Candidate must be familiar with the use and operation of both hand and powered tools, reading and working from plans and sketches and keeping job and other records.
Minimum Qual Requirements
- Five years of full-time satisfactory experience as a Carpenter acquired within the last 10 years; or
2. Three years of experience as described in “1″ above, plus sufficient training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational high school to make up a total of five years of acceptable experience. Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of approved trade or vocational school training.
Preferred Skills
Candidate must possess a valid NYS Driver’s license for the duration of employment.
