Happy Holidays from the NYCDCC

12.20.2019 L Boudreau

Brothers and Sisters,

As 2019 comes to a close, I’d like to thank District Council members, representatives, and staff for all the hard work they have put forth this year. We made enormous strides as a Council and pushed boundaries more than I ever thought possible. We are ending this year with a healthy pension fund and tens of thousands of work hours ahead of us.

We proved again this year, like every year, that our members are the best in business. We proved that our union is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to workers’ rights, fair wages, and safe working conditions. We will not back down in the face of anti-worker legislation and open-shop projects. We will continue to fight, negotiate new contracts, and educate the public on the importance of safety and family-sustaining wages for workers. This year, we graduated numerous apprentices and prepared hundreds of journeymen for leadership positions. As long as our workforce remains skilled and keeps up with the demands of this industry, the non-union sector will not be able to compete with us.

Next year will bring more work hours, training opportunities, and community involvement events. I encourage everyone to take this time to rest and be with family and loved ones. Thank you all for your incredible support this year and I promise that we’ve only got more success coming in the new year.

I wish you all a healthy and happy holiday to you and your families and hope to see you again soon.

Happy Holidays,

Joseph Geiger

Executive Secretary-Treasurer
