While we are confident this is going nowhere in the last days of session, it is important for our continued fight on 421a that we all take action.
Recently the Republican caucus in the Senate introduced legislation that would establish low wages for construction workers that build projects which receive a public subsidy. This legislation enriches wealthy real estate interest, while abandoning the middle class.
Construction work is dangerous. Every day construction workers risk their lives to build the towers, roads, and bridges this state has become famous for. They deserve a middle-class wage.
However, the Republicans sold out to wealthy real estate interests – instead of fighting for affordable housing and middle-class wages.
Enough is enough. The Senate Republicans need to fight for us, not campaign donors.
